Also known as Common Bladder Catchfly, Cowbell and Spatling Poppy, Bladder Campion is an upright native perennial with oval, greeny-grey leaves and clusters of white flowers each bearing a ballon-like bladder behind them.

The flowers are white with a clove-like scent in the evening which attracts moths.

It prefers well- drained soil in either sun or partial shade.

Bladder Campion attracts and provides food for many different species including:

  • Moths
  • Caterpillars of the Marbled Clover Moth
  • Black & Red Froghopper, (Cercopis vulnerata)
  • An "RHS Plants for Pollinators" plant **
