Mammals
These are some of the mammals we have visiting the garden. Some are very bold, the Rabbits in particular, but some are very secretive and we only see them via our wildlife cam.
We bought a new one at the end of 2025 and have been really pleased with it so far. It's a Naturespy Helarctos which is solar-powered so no more buying of expensive batteries and it works surprisingly well here considering the number of gloomy days in the winter.
If you need a wildlife cam, we recommend Naturespy especially as as they're non-profit with "all profits supporting conservation projects"
Hedgehogs
We have a feeding station for the Hedgehogs with a water tray in front of the entrance to deter the many local cats.
The last few years we've had a lot of Hedgehog traffic in the spring and early summer with visits becoming much less frequent through the summer when their natural food becomes more plentiful.

If you find a Hedgehog in trouble, (out in the day, injured etc.) please contact your local Hedgehog rescue, (Google "Hedgehog Rescue near me").

Rabbits
When we came to view this house, one of its biggest attractions for me were the Rabbit droppings on the lawn 😂
It turns out this village has an abundance of Rabbits, which annoys a lot of people.
Although it does make growing plants tricky, they're welcome in our garden.
We have a handful of regular visitors and an influx of new babies through the summer.
We also have a smattering of black Rabbits amongst the local population.
Apparently this is not unusual, but totally natural and they're not descended from escaped pets.
These black ones are sometimes referred to as "Parsons" 😂

Badgers
We get the occasional Badger passing through.
There's not much I can say about them apart from confirming they really like apples 😊
Foxes
Another animal we only get a quick glimpse of via the wildlife cam and I'm always surprised by how small and slight they are.
Unlike more urban Foxes, the Foxes here seem to be strictly nocturnal.
I can confirm, like nearly everyone else in the garden, they too really love apples 😊
