Greater Knapweed, sometimes called Black Top, is an upright plant with attractive buds opening to purple flower heads.

It blooms from June to September and is very popular with bees, butterflies and moths.  

Greater Knapweed attracts and provides food for many different species including:

  • Moths, including:   Marbled Clover moth 🐛, Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet moth 🦋,  Scarce Forester moth 🦋🐛 and Six-spot Burnet moth🦋
