Corncockle – Agrostemma githago


Type: Hardy Annual Wildflower

Approximate height: 75 cm

Flowering time: From May to August.

Site and soil type: Well drained soil in sun or partial shade.

When to sow: Spring or early autumn.


Corncockle has very attractive pink flowers and was previously commonly found in wheat fields but is sadly now very rare in the wild.


Its other names include Joy of Love and Little & Pretty.


Popular with pollinators.


Sow in spring or early autumn. Prepare the soil by removing any weeds and raking lightly. Scatter the seeds thinly on the soil surface where they are to grow, and gently rake them in or cover lightly with soil.


Warning: All parts of this plant and particularly the seeds are toxic. Do not ingest and keep away from pets and children.


Contents: Approximately 75 seeds / 1.25 g
