Nigella - Persian Jewels Mixed - Nigella damascena

Type: Hardy Annual

Approximate height: 55 cm

Flowering time: Summer

Site and soil type: Prefers well-drained moist soil in sun or semi-shade

When to sow: Spring or early summer and autumn

Also known as Love in a Mist and Kiss-me-twice-before-I-rise.

This Nigella has semi-double flowers in various shades of blue, pink, mauve, purple, and white in summer. The blooms can be used as cut flowers but please leave some for the bees who love them, Also leaving the interesting seed heads means they will self seed and give you flowers the following year.

Sow in spring or early autumn. Prepare the soil by removing any weeds and raking lightly. Scatter the seeds thinly on the soil surface where they are to grow, and gently rake them in or cover lightly with soil. Successive sowings throughout late spring and early summer will prolong the flowering season.

Contents: Approximately 500 seeds / 1.4 g
