Nigella hispanica is a bushy plant with feathery leaves and lots of bright blue flowers with dark red centres in summer followed by red flushed seed pods. Makes a good cut flower.
Sow directly into weeded and raked soil from mid-spring onwards. To prolong the flowering period, make successive sowings every few weeks into early summer. Very lightly cover the seed with soil. An autumn sowing will give you earlier and stronger plants next season.
